Our team brings together diverse backgrounds in marketing, technology, and social impact. We believe that every nonprofit deserves access to high-quality marketing support, regardless of their resources.

Through our internship program, we train students and volunteers in real-world digital marketing skills while providing free marketing services to nonprofits. Our work includes social media management, email campaigns, website optimization, and more—all designed to help nonprofits expand their reach and achieve their missions.

Da Phakousonh

Da Phakousonh

Da Phakousonh is a serial founder, tech educator, and strategic advisor with over a decade of experience bridging innovation, philanthropy, and digital equity. As the founder of Free Nonprofit Marketing, he has helped numerous nonprofits amplify their mission through scalable, zero-cost marketing strategies—empowering organizations that traditionally lack the budget or technical expertise to compete online.

A passionate advocate for youth empowerment through technology, Da co-founded CoderDojo OC, a free coding academy that taught kids in Irvine and surrounding communities how to build websites, apps, games, and more. Through hands-on mentorship and open-source philosophy, he created a safe, creative environment for young minds to explore software development and self-expression.

Da also served as a team member at PeopleSpaceOC, a 15,000 sq ft innovation lab and coworking hub that hosted 30+ startups and over 20 technical workshops, meetups, and hackathons monthly. There, he helped facilitate community-driven learning, user testing, and internship opportunities for aspiring developers and entrepreneurs.

In parallel, Da has served as an Advisory Board Member at I’m Possible for over a decade—supporting efforts to bring motivational speakers and mental health education to underserved middle and high schools. He also currently serves as a Board Advisor to the Southeast Asian American Alliance (SAAA), advocating for equity, representation, and leadership pipelines within underserved AAPI communities.

With a technical foundation in SEO, blockchain, and Web3 ecosystems, Da is also an early crypto adopter and mining systems engineer. His work in decentralized platforms supports alternative fundraising models for nonprofits and mission-driven startups. Whether leading grassroots campaigns or advising AI-powered systems for social good, Da continues to build ecosystems where community, technology, and purpose intersect.

Ha Phakousonh

Ha Phakousonh

Ha Phakousonh is a respected educator, mentor, and curriculum architect with a lifelong dedication to youth empowerment through hands-on technology education. He is best known as the co-founder of CoderDojo OC and Kids Code Academy, two pioneering programs that have taught hundreds of children and teens how to code, build games, and explore the digital world with creativity and confidence.

With a teaching philosophy rooted in accessibility, exploration, and student-led innovation, Ha has helped demystify programming for students from underrepresented and low-income backgrounds. His programs emphasized free, peer-driven learning environments that encouraged students to experiment, build real-world projects, and find joy in technology.

At CoderDojo OC, Ha designed and delivered workshops on HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, and Scratch, while also organizing tech company tours, mentorship pairings, and guest speaker sessions to expose students to the broader tech ecosystem. His inclusive, anti-bullying classroom culture ensured that students of all skill levels felt welcome and supported.

Ha also served as a volunteer leader and facilitator in several nonprofit coding events and hackathons across Orange County, building bridges between the local tech community and underserved youth. Many of his former students have gone on to pursue STEM pathways in high school, college, and careers—testaments to his impact as a mentor and teacher.

With a deep belief in lifelong learning, Ha continues to consult on STEM education initiatives and remains involved in volunteer-based teaching efforts. His legacy is one of empowerment through knowledge—ensuring that the next generation of innovators doesn’t just consume technology but creates it.

Magaly Phakousonh

Magaly Phakousonh

Magaly Phakousonh is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Program Director with extensive experience leading nonprofit initiatives focused on mental health, family support, and trauma-informed care. Her work spans school-based interventions, youth mentorship programs, and systems-level advocacy to ensure that vulnerable children and families receive the care, stability, and opportunity they deserve.

Magaly has overseen the design and implementation of programs supporting children with behavioral health needs, particularly those impacted by foster care, domestic violence, and systemic poverty. She has worked directly with clinicians, case managers, and school districts to coordinate wraparound services, ensuring continuity of care across social, academic, and emotional domains.

As a Program Director, she brings a strategic lens to organizational development—balancing the delivery of high-impact, community-rooted services with strong compliance, data tracking, and staff development. Her leadership style prioritizes cultural humility, reflective practice, and trauma-responsiveness at every level of engagement.

Magaly has led training workshops for mental health providers on subjects such as emotional regulation, burnout prevention, and culturally appropriate engagement. She is also deeply involved in developing resources that empower parents and caregivers, helping them navigate school systems, access early intervention services, and advocate for their children’s needs.

Her lifelong commitment to youth mental health and equity-driven care makes her a vital force within Free Nonprofit Marketing’s leadership. With compassion and clinical rigor, Magaly ensures that every program uplifts communities holistically—through evidence-based care, authentic partnership, and a belief in each child’s right to thrive.

Jarred Scott

Jarred Scott

Jarred Scott is a marketing innovator, nonprofit founder, and mental health advocate with a deep commitment to empowering young athletes and community leaders. As the founder of MAD Management and MAD Peer Voices Sports, Jarred leads initiatives that merge digital media, youth development, and social impact through storytelling and strategic branding.

With a background in NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) marketing and athlete mentorship, Jarred helps student-athletes navigate branding, sponsorships, and personal development both on and off the field. His programs offer guidance in media literacy, emotional intelligence, and financial responsibility—preparing young leaders for success beyond sports.

Through MAD Peer Voices, Jarred integrates mental health education into the athletic journey, building safe spaces for youth to talk about trauma, stress, and self-worth. His leadership empowers teens to become ambassadors of mental wellness within their teams, schools, and communities—equipping them with the language and resources to lead by example.

A dynamic speaker and strategist, Jarred has developed grassroots media campaigns that highlight social justice, youth empowerment, and community resilience. His work brings together artists, athletes, and activists to create movements rooted in authenticity, purpose, and positive disruption.

Jarred’s mission is to shift culture by showing young people that marketing can be a tool for self-discovery, healing, and generational change. Whether working with emerging talent or underserved youth, he leads with heart, creativity, and a relentless belief in the power of lived experience.


Orlando Vera

Orlando Vera

Orlando Vera is a statewide leader in peer advocacy and grassroots mental health reform with over a decade of experience transforming systems to elevate lived experience. As co-founder of Peer Voices of Orange County (PVOC), he expanded the organization’s reach from Los Angeles to San Diego and Merced County—building fiscally sponsored programs that serve marginalized communities, including incarcerated individuals and those reentering society.

He founded Peer Voices United, a statewide coalition of community health workers (CHWs), peers, and advocacy groups, aimed at integrating peer voices into public health and justice reform. His work in Orange County spearheaded the Peer Advocacy & Support Movement, partnering with EIOC, CalOptima Health, and the Community Health Workers Coalition to design equitable, peer-led care pathways.

Orlando has directly supervised over 25 Peer Leads, Specialists, and Mentors at CCS-Wellness Group–Pathways, cultivating a trauma-informed, supportive culture. He has built formal collaborations with California State Parole, County Probation, Sheriff Departments, and District Attorneys to serve Homeless Court and Care Court systems—breaking cycles of recidivism through mental health support and resource alignment.

He co-created the Peer and Clinicians Collaborative Alliance (PCCA) with Dr. G, bringing together peers, CHWs, and licensed clinicians for integrated mental health training. He also serves on the DBSA Orange County Board (Vice President 2017–2019), has led support groups at St. Jude and St. Joseph Hospitals, and holds certifications in mental health first aid, CPR, and de-escalation training.

His academic background includes business and marketing studies at California State University, Los Angeles, and an associate degree from Glendale College. Orlando’s lived experience, combined with executive-level peer leadership, positions him as a transformative force in community health and nonprofit innovation.

Judy Phakousonh

Judy Phakousonh

Judy Phakousonh is a results-driven federal program analyst and compliance expert with deep experience across multiple U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and USDA. She specializes in financial audits, internal controls, policy reform, and enterprise-level risk management.

At the U.S. Department of Energy, she supports GAO and OIG audit readiness, evaluating multi-million-dollar project finance structures and conducting internal reviews to ensure compliance with OMB A-123 regulations. At HHS, she led corrective action reviews for Medicaid and CHIP systems, shaping agency-wide policy through financial risk analysis and performance monitoring.

Judy’s work at the Defense Contract Audit Agency and USDA Agricultural Marketing Service included auditing federal contracts, managing financial reconciliations, and drafting compliance reports that directly impacted regulatory improvements. Her ability to synthesize data into actionable insight led to more transparent financial reporting and improved contract performance across multiple agencies.

Prior to that, she served as a Stakeholder Relationship Tax Consultant at the IRS, creating outreach programs to increase tax literacy and regulatory compliance among businesses and nonprofits. Her early career included direct military service in the U.S. Army as a Small Arms & Artillery Repairer, where she managed mission-critical inventories and inspections under high-pressure conditions.

Judy’s credentials include deep expertise in Power BI, advanced Excel, federal accounting standards, and internal audit frameworks. She is known for improving reporting accuracy, streamlining workflows, and enhancing interdepartmental collaboration in remote, hybrid, and onsite settings. Her background in auditing, public service, and compliance positions her as a vital asset for strategic funding and transparency in nonprofit operations.

Ruby Guillen

Ruby Guillen

Ruby Guillen, MSW, CIS, is a nationally recognized expert in fatal child abuse investigations, family violence prevention, and emergency response coordination. With over 7,000 case reviews across 88 cities in Los Angeles County, she has played a pivotal role in uniting hospitals, law enforcement, fire/EMT, and social service agencies to intervene in severe child welfare cases.

Ruby’s work extends beyond the frontlines of crisis response. As a research analyst and public health technologist, she collaborates with universities and nonprofits to develop advanced data science protocols that improve response speed and fatality prevention outcomes. Her goal is to modernize emergency intervention strategies through technology and community-centered innovation.

She currently serves in leadership roles at several national and international organizations. These include Chair of Membership for the American Public Health Association (Health IT section), Co-Chair of the NASW-CA Technology Council, and Executive Board Member for the United Nations’ International Youth Conference. Ruby also contributes to California’s Critical Incident Review Panels as a technology advisor for fatal and severe child abuse investigations.

Ruby’s lived experience as a former recipient of child welfare services adds profound authenticity and urgency to her advocacy. She now leads efforts to strengthen support systems for victims of violent crimes, enhance access to mental health services, and promote trauma-informed policy at the state and federal levels.

Her accolades include the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the White House, and she serves as CEO of Humanistic Technologies, a mission-driven organization committed to empowerment through innovation. With a foundation in social work and computer information systems, Ruby bridges qualitative care with quantitative precision to reimagine the future of emergency and social services.

Charles Vu

Charles Vu

Charles Vu is a multidisciplinary creative director with over 15 years of experience spanning traditional art, digital design, animation, and user interface systems. He has helped elevate the visual presence of startups, nonprofits, and Fortune 500 companies alike.

He has held senior roles at leading creative agencies including Taco Bell Creative, Rooster Creatives, Arch Node, and most recently as Creative Manager at Parley Labs, where he led full-cycle brand development and digital campaigns in the emerging tech and blockchain space. Charles’s work blends strong visual storytelling with a deep understanding of UX, UI, and responsive web design.

Beyond his technical proficiency, Charles is a passionate mentor and team leader. He has trained and guided junior creatives while actively engaging with the community through educational activations and science-based learning experiences that spark curiosity and environmental awareness in children.

When he’s not designing, he runs Flutterby—a mobile butterfly exhibit that brings immersive, hands-on nature education to schools and public events.

Charles earned his degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he studied from 2002 to 2006. His academic foundation in design and technology laid the groundwork for his creative career and his commitment to pushing visual boundaries.

A devoted husband and father, Charles values balance between professional excellence and personal fulfillment. He credits his family as his greatest source of inspiration and strives to lead with integrity, empathy, and purpose in every project and relationship.
